Logo FAIL

I found this gem online after searching "bad logo designs" on Google. It is for a dental clinic ran by San Marcelino. I suppose it is supposed to be a patient laying down on the table while the dentist does his work... But by the person just hanging there it looks a little more risque and ronchy than intended. I would classify this as a bad logo because without the company name there I would just see this as stick figure pornography.

Retro Design

(Dribble.com/ Sharon Milne/2012)

I found this design online from https://dribbble.com. It is a site where graphic designers can post their entries and there are a number of categories to sort them by. It is like a large open blog. It is  very interesting. This particular design had a really eye catching element to it when i saw it. The vintage style TV made me love this piece. It, along with the color scheme and the curtain theme really captures the old-school 60's feel to it.

Contemporary Design

This is a cover of a book called "Naive". It is a book all about contemporary and modern design, from when it started and how it has evolved since the beginning and people's reaction to this eccentric style. The cover really caught my attention, it is complex to look at but the overall design is just 4 colors, and simple shapes and motifs. I think the black in the image makes the picture pop and really give it a contemporary feel to it.

Award Winning Logo

Sixth Annual Logo Design Competition Winners
This design for a high-end seafood restaurant in Covington Louisiana was found on howdesign.com under "Sixth Annual Logo Design Awards Winners/Amanda Aszman/October 20 2014". It is a very interesting design and the way the fish is illustrated shows accuracy to the location it is in. That style of illustration is common in louisiana, it has that bourbon street feel to it. It is simple and has good, strong, bold text to support the small image. It flows well.

Award Winning Design (Animation)

I was searching the web for award winning design that had animation elements and I came across this ad. It is two different images but it is an advertisement about SUV radials. It is saying that it "takes the wild out of the wilderness" which is saying that driving off-road doesn't seem like such a scary thing with these. I love the design because it made what the quote says into an image. These two settings in real life would be terrifying but by animating in a way that seems like a children's TV show, it really captures the main idea of the product.

Great Type Ad

(CommArts.Oct/15.Tusk Conservation Awards)

I saw this in the October version of the Communication Arts. It was an award winning ad for the Tusk Conservation Awards which is an award for wildlife conservation. It drew my eye because of the interestingly unique font. It seems as if that type is just random and seems like it does not belong with the image but it works out. The letters are just made out of basic geometric shapes which proves again that simple is better!

4over Illustration Ad

(PRINT Mag. Dec. 14. 2014/4oversupertradeprinter)

I saw this design in the PRINT Magazine, October 2014 addition. Since we were recommended to find a design using illustration, I thought this piece was right on. It is for a printing company called 4over. i like the design because it looks like someone sketched it then added a certain gradient of colors flowing through only the books and t-shirts etc. in the background. I think keeping the girl white and not any other color makes it stand out that we are wanting the things in the background to be printed and colorful. Also the type in the ad all look like they were drawn by hand and not computer. This design felt like it really fit in the suggestion for the week.
